Ernest Rangel Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Row Bracelet size 7"

Navajo silversmith Ernest Rangel is best known for his sandcast work. Carving molds from tufa (a type of limestone), he then embellishes his pieces with decorative aspects and various stones or coral.

This slimline bracelet consists of a narrow but thick cuff made from a sandcast mold to which Ernest added 25 squares of natural, untreated Sleeping Beauty turquoise set in smooth bezels. The thickness of the cuff is literally 1/8", which would correspond to the thickness of heavy ten-gauge sheet silver. Note the finely detailed stampwork decorating the edges of this thick cuff. Beautifully done! The narrower a bracelet is, the sturdier it must be to hold its shape and provide a solid foundation for the bezels in which the stones are set. Fine slimline bracelets have cuffs of thick silver like this and are priced accordingly.

Hallmarked with an "R" inside of an arrowhead inside and stamped Sterling.
