Mathilda "Tillie" Jon is an accomplished Navajo silversmith who makes both traditional and contemporary designs. She does excellent stampwork and uses fine natural stones in her work.
This is very fine turquoise Tillie Jon set in this cluster bracelet. These stones were cut as a set from a single rock of rare "Black Web" Kingman turquoise which is natural and untreated. The set of stones consists of a central oval with fourteen rounds and two more ovals set as outliers to far left and right of the cluster design. All of the stones are set in serrated bezels and the center oval is wrapped with twist wire. Raindrops and starred buttons are interspersed between the stone settings adding sparkle to the array of stones. This is rich, rich blue turquoise of a sort seldom seen. Tillie beautifully stamped this scalloped-edge cuff and decorated the sides of the cuff with mirror-image rising sun motifs. The workmanship and design of this piece perfectly complement the splendor of this sublime set of stones.
Hallmarked T.JON and stamped STERLING inside.
