Mathilda "Tillie" Jon is an accomplished Navajo silversmith who makes both traditional and contemporary designs. She does excellent stampwork and uses fine natural stones in her work.
This deep-stamped bracelet is set with a large free-form stone of soft green Broken Arrow Variscite from Nevada. This is a natural, untreated stone which is fine-grained and beautifully polished. It shows a sort of frogskin pattern. She set this stone in a smooth bezel wrapped wtih twist wire and highlighted the stone to left and right with arcs of appliquéed buttons. The stampwork decorating the cuff consists of horizontal bands of varying widths tattooed with different stamps. The edges of the cuff are scalloped. She added a nice patina and satin finish to this cuff which give it a vintage, traditional look. Made with 12 gauge Sterling, this has nice heft. Very close to perfect.
Hallmarked T.JON and stamped STERLING inside.
