Rick Martinez is an accomplished Navajo silversmith who uses fine natural stones in his work and sometimes makes hammered ingot jewelry like his brother, Calvin Martinez.
This bracelet features a superb over-sized oval of natural, untreated Royston turquoise. This is a thick stone and extremely rare by virtue of its size and exquisite cut, coloration and polish. Rick set the stone in a handmade notched bezel wrapped with twisted square wire. He used raindrop wire to surround his twisted square wire and further highlight the perfect shape of this oval stone. He flanked the large stone with round conchas and added large fat raindrops to mark the intermediate directions around the stone. The cuff itself is made from three lengths of round wire and three lengths of twisted square wire. these lengths of wire taper to the gap where they are fused by terminal caps. It goes without saying that this cuff is hefty. You'll want a good fit on this because, if it's too large for your wrist, its weight will make it uncomfortable for you. If, however, it's the right size for you, you won't even feel its weight in wearing it. Measure your wrist, know your size. A real treasure!
