Ray Adakai is a Navajo silversmith who lives in the Gallup, New Mexico area. This is our first piece from Ray, but we have bought earrings from his wife Sylvia in the past. This large, wide bracelet is set with five rows of free-form stones of natural Kingman turquoise. These stones are naturally occuring nuggets which are slabbed flat on the back and set in serrated bezels. Raindrops are interspersed between and around all the stone settings, then heavily oxidized prior to setting the stones. This gives the piece a look of real age and you might expect to see this in a display case of old pawn, but it was made in early 2008. The border of the bracelet is scalloped with corresponding highlighting stampwork and ropes of twist wire border the wide swath of set stones. The inside of the cuff is beautifully stamped. This piece bears no hallmark, but we bought this from Ray's son-in-law whom we've known for fifteen years. 85 Stones: ranging from 1/4" x 3/16" to 3/8" x 5/16"
Width of cuff: 2 1/4"
