Born in 1967, Myron Sarracino has been an active potter since 1984. His principal teacher was reputed Laguna potter Gladys Paquin. Myron is renowned for his traditional designs which include historic Anasazi, Tularosa & Mimbres geometric patterns, as well as bighorn sheep, clouds, feathers-in-a-row and lightning. His pots have earned many awards and, as noted authority Dr. Gregory Schaaf wrote, "Indian art judges have showered Myron with prize ribbons, including Best of Show and Best in Traditional Pottery." This tall jar is a classic example of Myron's work. The shape is particularly attractive, the symmetry impeccable and the painting is outstanding. This is excellent proof of what Allan Hayes and John Blom wrote in Southwestern Pottery: Anasazi to Zuni when referring to Myron, "...painting Tularosa swirls as well as they can be painted." (page 88). His paint is made of wild spinach and this pot was kiln-fired.
