Mary Cayanito is a Navajo silversmith who works in the Traditional Revival style. She does both classic stampwork on sheet silver, as well as sandcast jewelry from carved molds. Her work encompasses all sorts of items, from bracelets to barrettes to belt buckles to concha belts.
This is a classic Navajo belt buckle with archetypal soft S-curves forming the corners of the buckles with additional repousseé motifs adding further decorative elements. At the center of the buckle, a rectangle of Kingman turquoise is set in a serrated bezel wrapped with twist wire. Mary oxidized the silver to give it an old-timey look. This is made to fit a standard-width western belt.
Hallmarked MCT and stamped Sterling on back.
