Mary Cayanito is a Navajo silversmith who works in the Traditional Revival style. She does both classic stampwork on sheet silver, as well as sandcast jewelry from carved molds. Her work encompasses all sorts of items, from bracelets to barrettes to belt buckles to concha belts. This is a sandcast belt buckle which was further decorated with stampwork after being removed from the mold. Mary set an oval of webbed blue Chinese turquoise in this buckle and oxidized the silver to give it an old-timey look. This is made to fit a standard-width western belt. Hallmarked "MCT" and stamped "Sterling" on back. Dimensions of buckle: 2 7/8" x 2 3/8" Stone: 9/16" x 3/8" Fits 1 3/8" to 1 1/2" width belt |
