Many members of the extended Calabaza family from Santo Domingo Pueblo are jewelrymakers. Lupita's specialty is mosaic channel inlay work on shell. In this instance, she used a combination of hand-cut tiles with bands of Sterling to inlay a diagonal mosaic design on this orange pectin shell. The pendant hangs from a Sterling bale and is free-swinging; allowing it natural motion with the body's movements.
