We first met James and Doris Coriz at the Indian Arts & Crafts Association (IACA) Spring Show in April of 2006 in Albuquerque. This husband and wife duo from Santa Domingo Pueblo make very traditional jewelry in the Santo Domingo style consisting of turquoise and shell prepared by hand.We now see them once or twice a year and always stock up on their fine, handmade traditional designs.

This is a classic Santo Domingo Pueblo choker made from hand-turned graduated disk beads of stabilized Kingman turquoise. The turquoise is stabilized to harden it so it can be drilled and strung into necklaces. This Kingman is a pretty combination of blue and green and is richly laced with matrix. The strand is finished off on each side with a small Sterling bead. This is strung on traditional beading string.
