Herman Vandever is a very accomplished silversmith who works in a variety of styles, including overlay work and sandcasting. When using stones, he always uses superior natural turquoise.
Once again Herman Vandever displays his fine eye for design and excellent craftsmanship. This bracelet is set with an absolutely dreamy stone of natural, untreated Royston turquoise. This is a soft blue with patches of matrix which actually enhance the beauty of the stone by heightening the natural aspect of the stone. This is not simply perfect beauty isolated within the natural world; it's a beauty that is amplified by the rough, rocky mineral aspect within the perfect blue. This stone is incredibly fine-grained and is as smooth as glass to the touch. The stone is set in a smooth bezel wrapped with twist wire on a saw and file work medallion. The cuff consists of five lengths of low-dome Sterling wire which back the medallion and the swirling appliquées which frame the stone. Our one regret is that our photographs just do not do full justice to this stone; it is beyond superb, beyond exquisite, beyond our photographic ability.
