Herman Smith is one of the first Navajo smiths whose Traditional Revival work we began buying in the early nineties. Over the years, he has experienced persistent back problems and undergone surgery and lived with some excruciating pain which periodically makes it impossible for him to smith silver. We buy his pieces whenever they are available.
This slimline row bracelet is set with ten perfectly-matched squares of natural Sleeping Beauty turquoise. This is the classic blue turquoise of yesteryear which was still mined in Arizona until quite recently. Unfortunately, the Sleeping Beauty Mine is now closed and pieces such as this will become rarer and rarer. Herman laid deep stampwork along the sides of this cuff and inside. He also set starred buttons along the top and bottom edges of the cuff.
Hallmarked HS and stamped Sterling inside the cuff.
