We've been buying Harrison Bitsue's sandcast jewelry for about eight years. His pieces (mostly bracelets and belt buckles) are particularly detailed and graceful designs. He often adds stampwork to his finished castings.
This nicely detailed piece is the product of careful casting in a well-made, hand-carved sandcast mould. After buffing his finished cast piece, a patina was added by applying an oxidizing agent to the surface of the silver to highlight the curves, nooks and crannies. When mounted on a leather belt, the leather shows through the cut-out portions of the design.
This piece bears Harrison's new hallmark: "H. Bit's". Prior to about 2003, Harrison hallmarked with the initials "HB" only.
Dimensions of buckle: 3" x 2 1/8"
Fits 1" to 1 1/4" wide belt
Note on sizing and sourcing belts: When buying a belt to mount your new buckle, the appropriate size is 2" larger than your measured waist size (if you have a 30" waist, buy a 32" belt). Many of our clients don't have a westerwear store close to them. We recently found Beltmaster to be a good outlet for belts on the internet. They make a series of belts with snaps which allow for changing out the buckle as you wish. The belts we purchased were of good quality leather and were very reasonably priced.
