We've been buying Harrison Bitsue's sandcast jewelry since the mid-nineties. His pieces (mostly bracelets and belt buckles) are particularly detailed and graceful designs. He often adds stampwork to his finished castings.
This nicely-detailed piece is the product of careful casting in a well-made, hand-carved sandcast mould. After buffing his finished cast piece, a patina was added by applying an oxidizing agent to the surface of the silver to highlight the curves, nooks and crannies. Harrison set a free-form stone of natural, untreated Number Eight turquoise in this piece. The stone is set in a handmade, notched bezel and shows archetypal cinnamon-colored matrix. This piece is beautifully made and has nice weight!
