Gene Nataan is an accomplished Navajo silversmith whose work we've been showcasing on our website since 2004. We've watched Gene develop as a silversmith over the years, both in terms of his mastery of smithing techniques and his development of a style that is all his own.
This bracelet is set with a round stone of natural, untreated Number Eight turquoise from Nevada. The stone is set in a smooth bezel wrapped with twist wire and shows the classic cinnamon-colored matrix of this renowned mine. Large starred button appliquées mark the equatorial center of the cuff with small raindrops interspersed between these buttons. Rows of smaller starred buttons highlight the deep stampwork which accentuates the sculpted edge of the cuff. This is a wonderful study in texture which features a very fine stone of natural turquoise. Gene oxidized this cuff to give it an "old pawn" look.
