Eugene Mitchell, more widely known as E.S. Mitchell (because of his hallmark), is a prolific silversmith who works almost exclusively in the technique of sandcasting. Sandcast molds are most commonly made with tufa stone, which is a pumice-like stone that lends itself to carving. Molten silver is poured into the carved mold.
This cuff shows interlocking blowing clouds geometrics. The cuff has been properly filed, buffed and smoothed so there are no sharp edges. He's oxidized the cuff ever-so-lightly to induce a patina in the grooves while the ridges have a nice shine. Beautifully made.
