Navajo storyteller bracelets use the overlay technique of jewelry making employing a foundation layer of Sterling sheet silver on which cut-out figures are affixed to create a pictorial scene of everyday Navajo life. Forming the background for the "story" told on the bracelet, this foundational layer is textured and heavily oxidized to make the figures stand out clearly and in stark relief. The top layer on this bracelet is buffed to a high polish which further enhances the contrast between the quotidian scenes and the background.
