Born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1971, Derrick Gordon is a prolific young silversmith who is the father of three daughters (the youngest born earlier in 2003). He learned to smith silver from his uncle Delbert Gordon. He is accomplished in many aspects of the trade and makes fine rings, bracelets, earrings, pins, pendants and more. This irregular-shaped stone of natural Pilot Mountain turquoise is a pretty pale blue with a bold splash of brown matrix. The stone is set in a modified serrated bezel wherein a straight-edged bezel has been just slightly clipped with smith's shears to form flat teeth. The shank consists of four lengths of Sterling wire, soldered together three-quarters of the way around and the strands separating in component parts to attach individually to the ring back. This is one of Derrick's signature designs and is supremely comfortable. This ring is hallmarked "Derrick" and stamped "Sterling" on the ring back. Ring face: 1 1/16" x 5/8" Stone: 7/8" x 3/8"
