Born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1971, Derrick Gordon is a prolific young silversmith who is the father of three daughters (the youngest born earlier in 2003). He learned to smith silver from his uncle Delbert Gordon. He is accomplished in many aspects of the trade and makes fine rings, bracelets, earrings, pins, pendants and more.
This is a ring style that is done both by Derrick Gordon and his uncle Delbert. We have been buying this style ring from them since 2003. The shank is split into three narrower bands before attaching to the ring back and nicely fanned scallop appliqués adorn the sides over the split shank. This wider, split shank greatly inhibits the ring from rolling on the finger. At the back of the shank the ring narrows considerably to a width of 1/8", which makes for a very comfortable fit. This holds a rich blue egg-shaped stone of natural, untreated Pilot Mountain turquoise from Nevada. The stone is set in a straight-edged bezel. Twisted square wire and raindrops form the border of the ring face. This is very clean work in a durable ring set with a fine natural stone.
Stamped "Sterling" and hallmarked "Derrick" on the ring back.
