Born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1971, Derrick Gordon is a prolific young silversmith who is the father of three daughters (the youngest born earlier in 2003). He learned to smith silver from his uncle Delbert Gordon. He is accomplished in many aspects of the trade and makes fine rings, bracelets, earrings, pins, pendants and more.
The shank of this ring is formed by four lengths of round wire which are spread before attaching to the ring back and stamped appliqueés adorn the sides over this split shank. This is a supremely comfortable wearing shank. It is set with a rectangle of vivid orange spiny oyster showing horizontal striations. The spiny oyster is set in a straight-edged bezel. Twisted square wire and raindrops form the border of the ring face in framing this gorgeous wafer of shell.
Stamped "Sterling" and hallmarked "Derrick" on the ring back.
