Born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1971, Derrick Gordon is a prolific young silversmith who is the father of three daughters (the youngest born earlier in 2003). He learned to smith silver from his uncle Delbert Gordon. He is accomplished in many aspects of the trade and makes fine rings, bracelets, earrings, pins, pendants and more.
This is one in a series of earrings we had made by Derrick Gordon. In fact, these earrings were misplaced for some three years and were just re-discovered among our collections when completing our year-end inventory. The starred post buttons on these are domed sheet silver, so they are relatively light. The stones are set in straight-edged bezels mounted on a flat back of sheet silver. Twist wire forms the border around the face of the dangle. Both the starred button and the dangle have a fixed ring attached with a loose link of chain connecting these two parts so that the dangle is free-swinging. The earring backs for the posts are rubberized plastic with the firm gripping metal center. These post backs reputedly make earrings much more comfortable to wear, particularly for the stability they lend to dangles. We took a photo of the back of one earring to show the construction on the back side and re-used that photo for each pair of earrings in the series because they are all made in this same fashion.
**Note** Please pay attention to the dimensions cited below for each pair. We suggest that you use the measurements provided to make a quick sketch of a pair you're interested in to better judge true size.
