Born in 1955, Delbert Gordon is a self-taught silversmith who grew up in Tohatchi, New Mexico. He specializes in Traditional Revival designs and always works with fine, natural turquoise. He was instrumental in the silversmithing training of his nephew Derrick Gordon, whose pieces also appear on this website.

This is a fine split-cuff design which Delbert began making in December 2006. Using sheet Sterling for his cuff, he split it in front and spread it just a bit. On the sides, the cuff is solid. Where the split cuff ends, Delbert laid a deeply stamped pattern which extends to the terminals. Delbert used 3/16" width bezel material to set his stone (most bezels are 1/8" wide). This gives a bit more dramatic effect to the stone and allows more gripping power of the setting. The bezel is wrapped with twist wire. To left and right of the stone, he added heavy starred buttons, raindrops marking the intermediate directions and twisted square wire scrollwork. The edges of the cuff are marked by grooved vertical stampwork.

The stone in this piece is a smoothly domed soft blue oval of natural, untreated Turquoise Mountain turquoise from Arizona. This stone is thick and has a highly polished surface.

Hallmarked with a large capital "D" with a spur extending from it and "Gordon" in smaller letters beneath surrounded by a trailing banner. Also stamped "Sterling" inside.
