Darryl Becenti is an accomplished Navajo silversmith who is particularly good at combining various stamps to produce complex, evocative stampwork designs. When setting turquoise in his jewelry, he always uses fine, natural stones. For the last few years we've been buying small pins set with stones and made by Albert Jake (see Albert's pins). These pins are great for putting on the pocket flap of a jean jacket, or as hat pins (cowboy, beret, your Borsalino fedora, etc.). Now Darryl Becenti has begun making these pins. Darryl's pins usually have a sculpted edge, are decorated by deep, traditional stampwork and have "bumped up" shapes. This pretty pin is set with a soft-cornered square of deep purple Sugilite . Hallmarked with a capital "D" tilted on its side and stamped "Sterling" on back. Stone: 5/16" x 5/16" Dimensions of pin: 2 1/8" x 7/8" Length of pin mechanism: 1 1/2" See our entire collection of Sugilite! |
