This design by Darryl is extremely traditional in its styling and harmoniously brings together many techiniques of smithing. The initial cuff was cut from sheet Sterling with great care to the sculpting of the edges and achieving mirror images on the opposite edges of the cuff. The cuff employs appliquées to lend additional depth and texture to the intricate stampwork. Appliquées include heavy-gauge flattened twist wire to left and right of the stone and stamped sheet silver shapes which are seemingly tacked to the cuff with heavy starred buttons. Above and below the stone, the cuff forms parallel crenelated edges. It is difficult to overstate the level of craftsmanship embodied in this piece. A perfect blue oval of natural, untreated Royston turquoise from Nevada serves as the centerpiece of this cuff. This stone has a nearly flat table with well-defined edges which drop precipitously into the bezel. It is set in a straight-edged bezel wrapped with twist wire. This is a particularly rich blue (what we call high-altitude sky blue) laced with rich host rock matrix.
