Chacodog has been offering Darryl Becenti's pieces since 2003; initially this repertoire consisted of rings, deeply-stamped bracelets without stones and pendants with primo turquoise. Darryl is painstaking about the precision of his stampwork and he has a particularly good eye for combinations of stamps.

This wide cuff measures a full two inches in width. Five perfectly color-matched shapes of rich red spiny oyster are wrapped around the cuff. The large center oval shows softly curved vertical striations and is flanked by two perfect ovals of softly domed, lustrous red. Two trapezoids finish off this set of superbly cut, polished and matched spiny oyster. The large size and luscious color of the spiny oyster incited Darryl to create a richly textured cuff with the visual and actual weight merited by the cut shells. Convex fanned scallop appliquées mark the intermediate directions around the center stone, while large repoussée appliquéesframe this grouping of cut shell. Large raindrops encircle the center oval as heavy, studded starred buttons add dramatic relief. Interlocking, mirror-image stampwork of thunderheads form deeply-stamped bands next to rows of arrows in flight, while minutely detailed stamps highlight the sculpted edges of the cuff. Note that the stamped pattern marking the equatorial center of the cuff is almost wholly obscured (seen only in the final photo picturing the terminals and gap). But like all traditionally-made stampwork, each of these designs and motifs is fully stamped on the whole cuff, regardless of the fact that much of it is completely hidden by the large spiny oyster settings and the appliquées. This one gets an A+ for composition, execution and beauty.

Note on size: Given the two-inch width of this cuff, it will best fit those who normally take a size 6 1/2" or 6 5/8" bracelet in a one-inch width cuff.
