This wide cuff is a study in texture and color. The three stones set in straight-edged bezels rise above the heavily textured, oxidized background of the cuff. Darryl used oval
repoussée shapes surrounding the stone sets like radiating flower petals. Crescent-shaped
repoussée forms are used in combination with the heaviest starred buttons, while a myriad of small starred buttons are interspersed among the radiating oval petals. The blue of the stones is rendered richer and more dramatic by the oxidized finish of the Sterling and the visual weight of the richly textured background.
The center stone is a near-flat free-form stone of natural, untreated Pilot Mountain turquoise with chestnut-colored webbed matrix. Two flanking stones of natural Royston turquoise provide a wonderful color match to the center stone. Note that the Royston turquoise stones are thicker and domed, while the Pilot Mountain stone has a flat table. This perfectly illustrates a common difference between these two types of Nevada turquoise; Pilot Mountain often being deposited in thin layers between host rock, while Royston usually forms in thicker veins.
Hallmarked with a "D" on its side over an arrow and stamped "Sterling" on back.
