This wide cuff is a study in texture and color. The three stones set in straight-edged bezels rise above the heavily textured, oxidized background of the cuff. Darryl used oval
repoussée shapes surrounding the stone sets like radiating flower petals. Crescent-shaped
repoussée forms are used in combination with the heaviest starred buttons, while a myriad of small starred buttons are interspersed among the radiating oval petals. The green of the stones is rendered richer and more dramatic by the oxidized finish of the Sterling and the visual weight of the richly textured background.
The center stone is a near-flat oval stone of natural, untreated King's Manassa turquoise in a rich green with one edge showing blue. Two flanking stones of deeper green Manassa show this same slightly domed cut with steeply beveled edges. Like Pilot Mountain turquoise from Nevada, King's Manassa usually occurs in thin deposits between layers of host rock. The thin layers of deposit of this turquoise account for its often being cut to a near-flat surface.
Hallmarked with a "D" on its side over an arrow and stamped "Sterling" on back.
