This oval-shaped buckle consists of a clustered group of stones with a large free-form center stone encircled by ten smaller stones. This is a Royston turquoise "sampler" buckle with all stones from the Royston Mine in Nevada. Though sourced from the same mine, this piece illustrates some of the wide variety of colors and patternings which come from this same place. This is a spectacular buckle for collectors because of its beauty and the story it tells of the richness of Royston turquoise. Cecil used a variety of shapes of stones and artfully punctuated the gaps between the stones with large, fat raindrops.
Hallmarked C. ATENCIO and stamped STERLING on back.
