Born in 1956, Navajo silversmith Cecil Atencio has been smithing silver since his early twenties. He was born near Chaco Canyon at Kimbeto, New Mexico, which is little more than a curve in the gravel road situated in a place with blinding dust storms. He currently resides in Tohajiilee, New Mexico with his wife, children and grandchildren.
This ring is set with a free-form stone of stabilized Kingman turquoise from Arizona. Cecil set this stone in a 3/16" smooth bezel wrapped with twist wire. The border of the ring face is decorated by saw and file work. Because this turquoise is stabilized, it will not change color over time and it is more fracture resistant.
Stamped STERLING on the ring back, but otherwise not hallmarked. We guarantee that this was made by Navajo smith Cecil Atencio.
