Born in 1956, Navajo silversmith Cecil Atencio has been smithing silver since his early twenties. He was born near Chaco Canyon at Kimbeto, New Mexico, which is little more than a curve in the gravel road situated in a place with blinding dust storms. He currently resides in Tohajiilee, New Mexico with his wife, children and grandchildren.
This bracelet is set with a thick free-form stone of natural, untreated Candelaria turquoise from Nevada. This is glassy smooth, tight-grained stone in variegated blue. Cecil's saw and file work forms the decorative border around this stone which is set in a smooth bezel wrapped with twist wire. The cuff is formed from three lengths of low dome Sterling wire with high-polish appliquées flanking the stone to left and right. This is stunning natural turquoise from Nevada.
