Calvin Martinez is consistently one of our favorite ringmakers and excels in every one of his smithing endeavors. While his work is hard to come by, every once in awhile we catch him at just the right moment. Consisting of a one-piece shank, widest at the stone and smoothly tapering to 1/4" width in the back, this is the essence of simplicity in styling and comfort. This ring is made from ingot Sterling; the silver is melted, poured out and rolled to uniform thickness before cutting its shape and stamping it. Add to this the individual attention given to the stampwork and decorative elements and this ring embodies the "grail" of Navajo Traditional Revival design. Newly made, this piece looks like it is fifty years old because it was made the "old way." An oval stone (hand-cut by Calvin) of natural, untreated Carico Lake turquoise is set in this finely serrated bezel. Hallmarked "C.MTZ" inside an arrowhead and stamped "Sterling". Stone: 9/16" x 7/16" Width of ring at stone: 7/8" Width of shank in back: 1/4" Size: 7 3/4
