Calvin Martinez is consistently one of our favorite ringmakers and excels in every one of his smithing endeavors. While his work is hard to come by, every once in awhile we catch him at just the right moment.
This ring represents a new design by Calvin. Consisting of a one-piece shank, widest at the stone and smoothly tapering to 1/4" width in the back, this is the essence of simplicity in styling and comfort. Add to this the individual attention given to the stampwork and decorative elements and this ring embodies the "grail" of Navajo Traditional Revival design. Newly made, this piece looks like it is fifty years old because it reiterates and codifies an aesthetic of yesteryear's Navajo smithing. An oval stone of natural, untreated Candelaria turquoise from Nevada is set in this finely serrated bezel wrapped with twist wire.
Hallmarked "C.MTZ" inside an arrowhead and stamped "Sterling".
