Albert set a gorgeous long, sky blue stone of natural, untreated Royston turquoise from Nevada in this bolo tie. The stone had a high dome and is particularly well-cut. It is laced with rich brown matrix. The foundational plate on which the stone is set was cut to reiterate the stone's shape and grooved, radiating lines of stampwork surround this stone. This has a traditional double-loop silver slide on back for adjusting the length. The tips are Sterling and have nice weight to them to make the straps hang properly.
The straps, of course, are leather (cowhide) and the braiding has yielded a thicker, rounder strap that lends weight to the overall appearance of the piece. A nice distinction of this bolo is that the top portion which represents that part which fits under the collar is flat. This flat portion is thinnerthan the braids and achieves its purpose of real flatness which slips under the collar, makes the tie ride right and is particularly comfortable. The braids are inserted into a sleeve of this thinner leather to connect the two portions of the straps. The two portions are glued together with shoemaker's glue and the attachment is quite solid because the braid inserts a full inch into the sleeve.
Hallmarked "A JAKE" and stamped "Sterling" on the back.
