This ring features a natural, untreated oval stone of Pilot Mountain turquoise set in a straight-edged bezel with twist wire wrapped around the bezel and forming the border of the ring face. The shank is hand-cut from Sterling sheet silver and is 5/8" wide where it attaches to the ring back. The shank then tapers to a very comfortable width in back. On each side of the shank, he added a slightly convex appliquée of a sphinx moth with detailed stamping (see this interesting link). At the moth's head he added a half-loop of round wire which, if intended to represent a blossom from which the moth is drinking nectar, actually performs the functional duty of preventing the ring from rolling around on the finger when this half-loop comes in contact with the adjacent fingers. It's a gorgeous design; well-executed and set with a beautifully cut stone of natural Nevada turquoise.
This ring is hallmarked "A.Jake" and stamped "Sterling" on the inside back of the shank.
