Albert Jake was born in 1959 at Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. He has been smithing silver for over fifteen years and is also a sand painter and makes pottery. We began buying Albert's pieces in 1999. He always uses fine quality stones in his work. We've had Albert make this style of ring for us in the past and we were due for another batch. So we picked a special group of stones; stones that were of extraordinary color from various mines and stones that were thick and didn't skimp on carat weight. Albert used raindrop wire to create an arc of raindrops above and below the stone, while twist wire is wrapped tightly around the bezel. The shank is made from 14-gauge Sterling; split into three narrower bands before attaching to the ring back, while vertical bars of raindrop wire frame the stone to left and right. The shank is 1/4" wide in back and this makes for a very comfortable ring. This free-form stone is natural, untreated Fox turquoise from Nevada. Fox is particularly hard turquoise and this stone displays a soft blue shade with a hint of green cast that only comes from the Fox Mine. Hallmarked "AJAKE" and stamped "Sterling" inside the shank.
